Fallout Season 2 2025 Review
"it's a real thrill to see how much respect the creators have for the source material."
Fallout is back with a second season that picks up right where it left off, dropping us straight back into the chaos of the wasteland. Lucy and The Ghoul hit the road together as they head towards New Vegas, and their dynamic is already one of the best parts of the show. Lucy’s hopeful energy mixed with The Ghoul’s dry, rugged outlook makes for a fun, grounded pairing that never feels forced. On the flip side, we follow Maximus as he rises through the ranks of the Brotherhood. Watching the Brotherhood evolve and seeing the different factions play out in live action is genuinely interesting. It’s not just ticking boxes for game fans, it’s adding layers to what we already know from the lore. You can feel how much care has been taken to get it right.
Visually, the show still nails it. The production design is unreal, with environments that feel ripped straight from the games. The rust, dust, and decay look lived-in and authentic, never like a set. And The Ghoul’s makeup? Absolutely spot on. Every close-up holds up, with that unsettling mix of grotesque and human that Fallout does so well.
The writing strikes that classic Fallout tone, bleak but cheeky. The humour never feels overdone, just woven through the world naturally. You’ll get a good laugh in one moment and then cop a gut-punch the next. It’s all balanced out nicely, and the fan service is done with purpose. You won’t find empty nostalgia here, just thoughtful nods that reward longtime players without alienating newcomers.
Performance-wise, the cast is top-tier. Ella Purnell brings even more depth to Lucy this time around as her character is more confident in the wasteland. Walton Goggins continues to be brilliant as The Ghoul, flipping between menace and warmth with ease. Aaron Moten’s Maximus has stepped up too, becoming a more complex character with proper weight behind his choices.
As a lifelong Fallout fan, it's a real thrill to see how much respect the creators have for the source material. From the Brotherhood lore to the brutal humour to the warped morality of the Wasteland, it’s all done with a level of detail you don’t always get in game-to-screen adaptations. It’s not just fan fiction; it’s proper storytelling with Fallout’s soul intact.
Even the pacing, which slows down in some spots, feels deliberate. It lets moments breathe and gives room for character development. There’s a sense of something big building, and you get the feeling we’re only scratching the surface of what this season has in store.
We’ve seen enough to confidently say Season 2 is continuing Fallout’s streak as one of the best video game adaptations out there. With strong performances, sharp writing, stunning sets, and a deep respect for the world it’s playing in, it’s shaping up to be another ripper. We’re giving it a solid 8 out of 10.
